How to Get Back to Routine

Summer is coming to an end and fall is just around the corner. With fall, comes a little more regularity. Gone are the days of going to the beach in the middle of the week or taking a Friday off work simply because the Sun is shining. It is officially time to buckle down and get ready for fall. Fall is the last bit of “regular” time before the hectic season that is the Holidays. So, it is ever so important to get into a routine sooner than later for both your mental and physical health. While getting into a “rut” is not great for your overall health, a routine allows your body to prepare for and embrace obstacles regularly.  Here are a few tips to help you get your nose to the grindstone and get yourself right for the upcoming seasonal changes!

  • Exercise at the same time each day. This will allow your body to get ready for physical activity and recovery each time. Erratic exercise can throw off your body’s internal clock. Exercising on a regular schedule will maximize your daily energy and your quality of sleep.
  • Write out your schedule at the beginning of each week. Writing out your preset plans for the week will let you mentally prepare for anything coming your way. It is also a great way to see if you have any openings in your schedule for social activities. You can look at your schedule and prioritize what events need more preparation and which ones can be taken care of at the last minute. Nothing will sneak up on you and make you feel overwhelmed.
  • Reward yourself! Once you’ve gotten yourself into a stable routine, give yourself a small gift to incentivize sticking with the plan. This not only will create a positive reaction in your mind to everyday tasks, but it is always nice to treat yourself!
  • Get a membership at LaVida Massage. This is the best way to wrap all three of the tips above together. A massage will help with any exercise recovery. With our app, you can send calendar reminders to your phone so you will know when your next session is. It is also the perfect reward for working hard! A massage or facial each month, at an exclusive member rate, is the incentive you need to both keep going and to get ready for your next month of hard work.
